Loved Nimés France, said to be the most Roman town outside Italy. The town where Denim was invented and a weaving loom that could read designs by Jean Pauline 1770, but was never patented, thus in 1801 Joseph Jacquard, stole the idea and made a fortune.

Today we went to Arles France to track down Vincent Van Gogh's inspirations. It's a truly fabulous walk around.

From Strasbourg we drove south to Sault to see the Lavender fields in bloom. With just a brief stop of a night, I can honestly say, it was worth it.

From Strasbourg we had a day trip to Luxembourg. We only went to the capital but the Natural History museum is simply brilliant. Again, so much history. The Grund & the old town are stunning. And of course, The Hotel de Ville is essentially where the EU started.

After Annecy we drove up to Strasbourg. Gorgeous old town. Much German/French influences with borders having changed several times. Again, dominated by a river, The Ill (ill) River which runs into the Rhine. Medieval buildings in the old town are still in use.

From Annecy had a day trip to Montreux Switzerland. Had to see where Smoke On The Water was written on recorded. The Grand Hotel is now apartments & the gambling house, rebuilt in a completely different style. The Lake Geneva Shoreline is fabulous & Montreux had Bondi feel. Freddy dominates nowadays

Annecy France was gorgeous. We had a swim in The Lake at 23°. The canals running from the lake provide endless photo opportunities in the old town with the shifting light. We loved the old town & the people. It's a real summer resort for French people. I bought some Haute-Savoie souvenirs.

On our way from Paris to Dijon we stopped by Flavigny Sur Ozerain. Beautiful. If you've seen the movie "Chocalat" you'll understand

We really loved Dijon France. Hard to show how old many of the buildings were, but there are some from Medieval times, the Renaissance & some even newer.

I was last in Paris in 2014, it's changed insofar as it's cleaner now, it's busier (that could be it's summer not autumn) but it's more beautiful than I remember

Remembering the Wye Bridge in Monmouth Wales on my trip around Great Britainin 2014. I'm just going through my old trip photos and recreating past trips for Polarsteps. My upcoming trips are all dated up.

I've tried growing Boabab (Adansonia Gregorii) trees from seed with poor results previously. After our trip to Tanzania I bought 10 seeds & planted them before Xmas. The pots are being maintained in water #AustralianNativeBonsai (note @support.bsky.team - @ih8shockjox.bsky.social needs help)

You may recall I started wiring the air roots of my Moreton Bay Fig - Ficus Macrophylla to give them some character. All looking well at the moment. In a few years, it may look quite spectacular. #AustralianNativeBonsai (note @support.bsky.team - @ih8shockjox.bsky.social needs help via email)
