Pretty sure that's illegal, you might want to read your contract. Is your phone a flagship? Is it through a big name carrier?

What ended up happening?

I work for a company that sells phones and from my experience they usually use this wording because sometimes someone still has a phone insured thats like, 10 years old and they can't find an exact replacement. It's just safe wording.
