Mammal of the Day 79: Namib Round-eared Sengi (Macroscelides flavicaudatus)

a small mouse-like animal, but not related, instead its closest relatives are tenrecs, otter shrews, and golden moles, as well as hyraxes and other afrotherian mammals. it is not related to true shrews, despite its name. the round body is pale tawny in color with a slightly lighter underbelly, a long thin tail, and namesake smallish, round ears. the eyes are large, the legs short and hind feet elongated, and the nose being situated at the end of a long, thin, tube-like flexible appendage used to root for insect prey. its head seems to blend with its body; its neck is very short. it is one of the fastest mammals for its size, and may sometimes move by hopping on its hind legs similar to a kangaroo or jerboa.

Very very impressive! These look so clean.
Currently I use gouache that is in tubes which only requires ~2 layers, though I've also heard you can add cornstarch to make paint thicker.
