I personally probably wouldn’t but I’m a bit of a Blu-ray purist.
Realistically animation like that will probably have pretty clearly defined lines that should make an SD viewing experience pretty clear anyway, though. I’d still look to see if you can get the individual movies as Blu-ray though.

It’s driven by demand and cost. blu-ray costs more to produce and also costs more to purchase.
If costs go down DVD might drop in use, but people are still willing to pay less money for sub-HD resolution, so DVD still sells.
