I was somehow able to upgrade my non-upgradeable economy flight to business with my airmiles and so now I’m in the lounge about to eat a chicken Katsu curry at 10 am just because I can

Japan is truly in the future - we are on a Shinkansen and this train not only is just SO FAST but also the train toilet has a seat warmer and bidet function and is clean enough you’d trust it to use it.

On the other hand there is never any hand soap anywhere

This is my favorite New York Times cooking recipe to date I make it all the time - tho with far far less butter so I’m sure if I actually followed the recipe properly it’d be even better

Everything is Japan is so thought through and sensible and ordered with one major exception: the bicycles! People cycle at breakneck speed down footpaths even when there is a bike lane on the street and they will never ring their bell to tell you they are behind you, instead they just swerve

Do they sell new pairs of feet somewhere in Japan asking for a friend 😭

First full day in Kyoto - we saw 4 temples and 1 shrine, got rained on and blinded by sun, saw many a leaf, had a hojicha latte, a matcha ice cream, and my feet are about to fall off - truly great day

Cannot get over how unbelievably dumb this is, like they are actively and SO obviously trying to stoke racist ire but this is just how human relationships work. E.g., I, a white 35+ European, am auntie to 1 actual nephew, 1 godchild and about 20 other children to whom I have no blood relation

My hot take is that the general public should have to get licenses for craft resin and also 3D printers and have their projects vetted and approved

you'd think a prominent news outlet like the New York Times might mention that "antifa" isn't an actual organization in a long story about antifa, but nope!

and the subhead helps props up a false claim this professor was up to something seedy as something up for debate
October 9, 2025 at 2:32 PM
This is insane, do these people genuinely think Antifa is an actual coordinated entity like, do they actually believe this??? It’s almost worse if they do ????
Noem: “We are hoping…we will get more and more information about the network and how we can route them out and eliminate them from the existence of American society…Antifa is just as sophisticated as MS-13, as TDA, as ISIS, as Hezbollah, as Hamas, as all of them. They are just as dangerous.”
