i also love the audiobook bc you realize how much the all names are kind of musical and pleasant sounding, and how the suffixes do make sense out loud

i think that’s the book i’ve read the most times. i listen to the audiobook every single thanksgiving on the drive too and from my parents and i generally cry my dumb face off because i love maia so much

but i’m going to give her a week or two and see how she’s feeling and if she’s thriving. if things seem worse, i’ll try again or go back to my bamboo pole!

NOT PICTURED: i also bit the bullet and put my monstera adansonii on a moss pole. i’ve been SO intimidated by moss poles and really resistant to them. but i saw a kit for pretty cheap and decided to finally try. didn’t take a pic bc i’m convinced i didn’t do it right. the petioles might be too deep

my heart leaf philodendron was doing awful—the soil was always wet and new leaves were coming in smaller and smaller. so i took her out of the pot and her roots were TINY and thin. SO i did a chop and prop—most of the viable nodes are now in water under a grow light and what’s left is in a tiny pot!

but look what i came into find this morning!!! new leaf!!! i cannot wait to see what variegation it’ll have. i’m sooooo proud of her. from the depths of a sunless target shelf, drowned in water to thriving and growing

and then i got startled by this baby who is called a LITTLE MISSY. she’s got these gorgeous tiny delicate leaves but when you get close they’re actually pretty sturdy because she’s a succulent!!! i can already tell she’s going to be a HUGE pain in the ass to water so thank god she doesn’t need much

it might not be the worst mix actually—i think peace lilies don’t mind being moist so mulch itself might be okay. but if you were overwatering on top of the mulch, that might have done it. who knows—i killed a SPIDER plant last winter which everyone assured me was impossible!
