As someone who works in manufacturing and spends too much time in one factory towns across the country, this is a good reminder. There are lots of ways to make things of real value that aren't as tangible as walking a plant line and seeing cheap raw materials turned into finished goods.

Was helping FIL over Xmas move some paintings and had to rent a truck from home depot because this load would not fit in a full size Ford Bronco.

Yes, he drives it into Manhattan regularly and insists congestion pricing will be the end of NYC.

He is accidentally correct. Cities are spending money on dogshit bike lanes across the USA. People aren't crazy for noticing that they are underutilized and unsafe.

But yeah, proven designs are the solution, vehicular cycling is an extreme sport- not transportation.

1x on aggressive geometry is perfect for nothing but so much fun. I don't do crazy miles, but it climbs, is fun in the city, & can handle all the gravel the trains in Denver get me to.

One of these days I'll put some fancy wheels on, but this will be my only bike until it is stolen or run over.
