At the invitation, Wyll took a few cautious steps forwards, making sure to leave room for the others to enter just in case things went awry. Having the extra backup would be helpful just in case this was a trap. Once Aku entered the room, there was no trace of recognition as she looked at the Drow curiously. There was no way for her to tell if friend or foe. “New friend of yours, Frans? Are you the presumed warden or was that him?” Wyll said, nodding towards the severed head. Gale caught a glimpse of the head, closed his eyes, and turned away. He made his way over to Frans, standing protectively by his side. His darkened eyes gazed around the room, observing the various knickknacks strewn about. Aku approached the table and looked at the head before picking it up. She examined it in different angles before her mouth started to water when she saw the chunks of meat where his head was once connected to his neck. What a fine stew this would make. Wouldn’t it? Shut up! She placed the head back on the table and stepped back towards Astarion, bumping into his chest. “This is quite the operation you’ve here. Tell me, what is it that you exactly do?” Gale asked, at the ready to cast something just in case. This was already spiraling into chaos—the very outcome Frans had been desperately trying to prevent. There was no turning back now as the rest of the group entered, their faces reflecting a mix of disgust, concern, and defensiveness. Thankfully, they outnumbered the drow six to one, giving them a glimmer of hope unless fate decided to intervene. "Friend? No," Frans scoffed, rolling his eyes before turning back to examine the drow once more. They were undeniably intriguing, seemingly unfazed by the tension hanging in the air. In that moment, Frans felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude for Gale's presence beside him. The little rogue instinctively let his fingers brush against the wizard's, a soft, reassuring touch that spoke volumes more than words ever could. The drow, however, regarded the group with an almost playful curiosity before their gaze settled on Aku, watching intently as the tiefling reacted to the head. With an almost mischievous skip, they hopped over and perched themselves on the desk, legs crossed, tenderly patting the head once it was placed down. No immediate answer followed as they stroked one of the dead woman's horns with a delicate touch. "Hm?" the drow hummed, their eyes never leaving the detached skull that captivated them like a dazzling jewel. "Do? What do any of us do? That's a far more intriguing question." An unsettling chill enveloped the room, the drow’s glowing magenta eyes shifting back to the group, a wide smile revealing impeccably maintained teeth gleaming under the dim light. "We live to die, striving to defy that predetermined fate. Isn't it curious that some shy away from it, when embracing that ultimate goal seems so profoundly human?" They lifted the skull once more, cradling it in their outstretched arms with a strange reverence. "The failure to see the beauty in one's own end is the true tragedy." With a delicately long thumb, tipped by a dagger-like black nail, they caressed from the slack jaw over a blood-stained cheek—a morbid, yet strangely tender gesture, akin to a lover's caress. "The warden, undeniably stunning in life, has emerged from her cocoon to embrace the afterlife's metamorphosis." Uncontrollable shudders rippled through the group at the drow's next move, unpredictable and grotesque. Pulling the head closer, the drow captured those cold, blood-soaked lips and pressed a kiss upon death, exhaling a breathy sigh of pleasure. A suffocating silence hung in the air as they broke away and returned the dead warden's head to the desk, their already dark-stained lips now glistening a shocking shade of crimson. Rolan was the first to voice the horror that gripped them all, his voice trembling with disgust. "Bloody hells! First off, that is unsanitary. Second, that's not what was asked of you. Third, are you insane?" The drow blinked at him, genuine confusion flickering across their features. "Hm? Was it not? Oh, my apologies. I do tend to get lost in my own musings." They resumed humming and stroking the dead warden's horns as if nothing about this moment was amiss. Gale returned the gesture, stroking his lover’s palm softly as they all waited for answers. Answers that never came. The drow seemed to be traveling down a path of psychobabble that was leading nowhere. But the moment they kissed that severed head, Gale felt like he was about to toss up the dried fruits he snacked on as they waited at the docks of Last Light. He gagged and turned away. “Gods almighty…” Wyll said in a face of disgust. Aku only chuckled. She had committed far more despicable acts on the dead, she was sleeping with a vampire after all, but she got a rise out of seeing the others react to such an insane gesture. “I don’t mean to cut these philosophical musings short, but we’re on what one would call being pressed for time,” Wyll said as he looked over the drow. He noted that their movements were graceful, fluid like liquid, and that they’d make a perfect dance partner. “Uh, I must examine this body for an item and then we’ll be on our ways to leave you to do…Whatever it is you do.” Wyll began walking around the desk to approach the body. The stranger was completely oblivious to all the reactions, lost in their own little world. Astarion, however, found it rather humorous, leaning over to Aku with a playful whisper. "I like this one." “They’re entertaining,” Aku said as she gave Astarion’s hand a loving squeeze. Even though the rest of the group didn’t quite agree.
