the one thing thats true is profit is top line. patients are i dont even think a footnote anymore. not even healthcare workers get consideration now. its just. all. money.

my gp has long covid. she got it before vaccines were available. she still cant work full time and had to cut her work load to less than half. another friend has it and changed from an -extremely- vivacious person to a.. ghost. she doesnt talk about it but its like shes not there anymore.

yes yes, thanks for the answer. thats what i mean though, 'deciding' as in binary logical way computers/algorithms 'think'. i think we're saying the same thing. my point was that logically if i were an algorithm i might logically deduce humans were illogical and in my way pretty fast. thanks

without ability to feel any emotion at all, going purely on logic with a goal to solve problems, any computer system could evaluate the humans in its way and purely on logic decide they are dispensable to the job at hand or even in the way. and purely logically, dispense with the obstacle. (us)

ive tried to talk to people about potential risks of AI this way. they get sidetracked into 'computers will never be sentient so how could they decide to kill us'. my theory is that it doesnt require sentience and actually not having it makes it worse.

i know its complicated. im just saying that more and more all insurance co's business model seems changing to profiting by just denying or delaying care for literally anything at any time. whos to stop them in most cases. they just set up a billion hoops and dont cover anything they dont want to.

she actually plans to be a high school counselor... and might adopt from foster care. i think it was totally a decision regarding the state of the world.... and im so glad now she made it.
