He is a Ukrainian soldier, not serving in a PMC or a Paramilitary Group and he is granted the same rights as a Ukrainian citizen. Not by any legal definition is he a Mercenary unlike Russian PMC’s and Nazi Paramilitary groups who invaded Ukraine who by definition are Mercenaries.
