We’re honored to be hosting Art from the Inside Out, featuring work by incarcerated and previously incarcerated artists, organized by Inside Out Reentry Community! The exhibition will open with a reception Fri Feb. 7 from 6-8p. It will be on view through Feb. 15 during our Close House open hours.

In January, a team of staff and volunteers removed old carpet and put in a new cleaner, stronger, economical floor that is flexible for artist use, as part of our adaptive reuse of the historic Close House. Thank you Hannah for heading up this big project, and all the folks who gave time!

Critics often talk about the “worldbuilding” potential of art, but a collection of books that don’t belong to the real world (at least not in the traditional sense) at one of North America’s oldest bibliographic societies might bring this idea closest to reality.
An Exhibition of Non-Existent Books
It’s clear that this exhibition was put together by a bunch of absolute nerds — and that’s a compliment of the highest order.
