...The reason for the shift to paid parking and subsidizing the developer behind it: a claim that the city is too broke to provide basic services.
But some how not too broke to pay over half it's total $40M budget to the local sheriff contract. (To which they just tacked on another $46K tonite.)

...The City Commission just voted to approve one more step in the plan: a parking garage that will force all of downtown into paid parking. (We're currently one of the last remaining cities in SE Florida where most all parking is still free.)...
