Historian/author, seamstress/historical costumer. Still using the Oxford comma.
Reminds me of the 1950s song “Sixteen Tons”:
“… another day older and deeper in debt.
Saint Peter don’t you call me cause I can’t go,
I owe my soul to the company store.”

That was my frustration with candidates for for our local council and mayor. Lots of talk about affordability and attracting new industry to help reduce taxes. No details about how they would do that, even though they’ve had at least 4 yrs in office. And nothing has changed.

Interesting that the press can uncover financial information about Mr. Mamdani, but were/are unable to find *any* information about Mike Johnson’s finances.

As long as the “manly men” in Congress refuse to have a thought or action independent of what Trump wants, there’s no room to bash women’s participation in business or government. The women are the ones with integrity, in both thought and deed.

I can’t bring myself to “like” your post.
But I acknowledge the outrageousness!

Why are you downplaying the seriousness of this situation?
Bovino’s daily appearance in court is an *order* from the judge, not an invitation he accepted.
Likewise, Judge Ellis *ordered* him to provide information; she didn’t ask.
I really expected better from you.

Did any “reporter “ bother to ask Mike Johnson *why* the SNAP contingency funds aren’t available? In a situation that shouts “This is why we have contingency funds” ?

Why signal what you will do?
Some people will use that as a reason not to vote for the candidate. Others will use it as a reason to keep winners from being seated.
See: Adelita Grijalva of Arizona. I wish she had been non-committal about the Epstein files.

The loss of local newspapers is contributing to loss of community in our towns. Nobody knows what the town government is doing; no way to communicate about community events; no way for candidates/officials to reach the entire community. You don’t know who died or got married.

It’s not a question of who any of *us* will vote for; it’s a question of who can *win*. Not whose turn it is or who wants to try or who has worked so hard for the party. Not Rahm, not Bernie (at this point, too old), not AOC (too young, too divisive).
Who. Can. Win.

You can argue about how wrong I am, but ask yourself: Who among us will be better off with Republican majorities in Congress for the next 2-4 years or more?
Then ask: How do we change the current situation?
Answer: Run candidates who can WIN.
October 9, 2025 at 5:03 PM
The next election is a must-win with no margin for error. If winning means Democrats have to run straight white men in *every* campaign, that’s what needs to happen. I think Amy McGrath is terrific, but if she can’t win, pragmatism must prevail.
