oc. reference for Liarbird, a monster from a comic i’ll never get around to making
reference sheet for a large bird-like dragon monster. it’s roughly 7-9 feet tall, estimated 25 foot wingspan. black with purple green iridescence and light tips of quills, making it look like a huge european starling. fig 1 shows the first encounter with the creature standing eerily among trees, only its eyes and quills visible. its posture is quadrupedal standing on theropod-like hind legs and pterosaur-like wings, with smaller raptorial forelimbs tucked under the wings. fig 2 shows a full threat display where the Liarbird’s lips pull back dramatically to reveal a long serrated beak. its throat is inflated and its quills stand on end. the quills might be some kind of sensory organ. the eyes are black, except for the tapetum lucidum illuminating the pupils in low light.
