Probationary employees at the Department of Education are getting the following email: “The Agency finds, based on your performance, that you have not demonstrated that your further employment at the Agency would be in the public interest.”

Hmm … who else should get such a letter?

To be fair, the 72-year-old Belichick could pass for 62 and his 24-year-old girlfriend could pass for 42, so the age gap isn’t THAT much.

Bluesky … what’s with this ad? Do you NOT want people of a certain age to be here?

What’s full of hot air, likes to call attention to itself, is an awkward size, and will be floating around the INSIDE of the New Orleans Superdome on Sunday? (No … it’s not the Goodyear blimp.)

Wait until she discovers I’ve never watched an episode of “Friends.”

Trump is attending the Super Bowl. My interest in watching it has dropped to zero … and it would be great if this could be the least watched Super Bowl ever.

The Founding Fathers were smart though I’m sure they didn’t fathom needing something in the Constitution barring an emigrant billionaire, whose billions come from government contracts, from accessing government databases without having to run for office or be approved by a congressional committee.

Part 1:

I just sent a variation of this note to eight Target company executives (one guy, the CEO and seven women executive vice presidents). The note to the CEO was worded somewhat differently but all the women got something like this:

So I watched a few clips of RFK Jr.’s testimony today. He sounds just like Katherine Hepburn in “Rooster Cogburn” if she was playing both lead parts.

The Red Scare of the early and middle 20th century is being replaced by the Brown Skin and DEI Scare of the Trump era.

I’ve discovered since the new year that my social media writing is now spread even thinner … or broader … depending on your perspective. I write on Facebook, Bluesky, Substack, Threads, and Instagram. And I post the same thing in multiple places, because I’ve lost sense of where people are looking.

Interesting thesis about evolution of media. For centuries, the production of news was controlled by a few but each technological innovation expanded the number of people who could access news.

The Democratization of Information Production is Killing Democracy
The way we receive information about our world is unlike any previous generations of humanity. Paradoxically, it's destroying democracy—and Trump's America is the main canary in the coal mine.

So Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan have redone, shot for shot, the famous deli scene from “When Harry Met Sally” for a Hellman’s mayonnaise Super Bowl ad … and I immediately thought of what her throes of ecstasy would be like if there was Duke’s on her sandwich.

My office is moving spaces and so there has been an office wide clean out going on for weeks. Today, several piles of business and management books appeared, free for the taking. The titles are like a random collection of words, at least one of which should be shocking or nonsensical.

From a WSJ article about how the luxury home market in DC is booming because people want to be near Trump. “There are a lot of folks who are coming to Washington … that want to be close to the sun. They make 2016 look like amuse-bouche for the main entree, which is the moment in time right now.”

Rahm Emanuel, Barack Obama’s first chief of staff, famously said, “you never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is is an opportunity to do things that you think you could not do before.”

The Trump administration is taking this advice to heart .::..
