Thanks, you're right, it doesn't. Neither of the people advancing this narrative were even present, had they been, they'd have heard me say that even traditional media gets somtimes pulled into this & my ex. came from London, with no reference to Ptbo whatsoever. Does this prove my original point?

In 2022, the Board & Council supported a 5 year Plan for police staffing. The Plan called for 49 net new staff to meet requirements identified by independent consultants

25 have been hired.
10 in 2026 brings that to 35.

That is a far cry from 70 new people & 71% of what consultants recommended.

I'm not in a position to speak to those specifics, but I can appreciate their value & their impact. Policing is legislated to be provided by the Municipality and paid for by them. We receive a small portion of funding in grants to offset some costs to the City, but service levels are prescribed.

I'm not suggesting that public safety is inexpensive, I'm saying the info was not factual. But, if you want to discuss where money is spent, examine the FIRs for Ptbo & several other similar sized communities, you will see that Ptbo spends 81% of the Avg. on police & 155% on cultural services.

Sorry, but this is actually incorrect. In 2015, the police budget represented 18.26% of the city budget. It decreased until 2023 (dropping to 16.80%) until 2024 when it rebounded to just under the 2015 number (approx 18%). Saying it with confidence and personal conviction doesn't make it true.
