I’ll never forget my New Testament professor telling me that sometimes God’s wrath in the Bible looks like just letting people have the king they demanded. The world they wanted. The reality they voted for.

When we Christians find ourselves elevating kings and ignoring the voices of the prophets who are calling the kings out, that’s when we know we are reading the Bible incorrectly.
Or perhaps, that’s when we realize we aren’t actually reading the Bible at all.

I cried after the 2016 election. In 2023 I left the US. Too divided, too uncivil, too much stress. 2024 I didn't cry this time. I was disappointed. I'm not young enough to wait for the correction. I am happy with the choice I made.
