The creation of these guidelines brought together leading pharmacists, psychologists, psychiatrists & medical ethics experts. This sets the tone for more research into psychedelic therapies & greater interdisciplinary collaboration between these key groups at other national & international levels.

3/ Findings based on both included trials suggest psilocybin may rapidly alleviate depressive and anxiety symptoms in cancer patients, however given the limited study numbers, caution and further research are advised. Read about the study here: lnkd.in/eSy-c5up

2/ Data from up to July 2024 included two randomized controlled trials, assessing Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) scores on day 1 and 2-week follow-up.

Alongside PsyPal partner Albino Oliveira-Maia, PsyPal PI Robert Schoevers presented the current landscape of psychedelic treatments in psychiatry and emphasised the knowledge that will emerge from the PsyPal trial, which will begin recruiting shortly.

A recent systematic review looked at the neurobiological mechanisms of psilocybin's antidepressant properties using blood biomarkers! This review is highly informative for the PsyPal project and is notably co-authored by some of our project members.
