I think it's because Kingdom Hearts is more abstract with what it's trying to do, and because of that it comes off pretentious.

I actually thought it was pretentious for a very long time.

From what I know, the cutscene that plays in that world is the only actual thing that matters from that game in terms of the rest of the Canon, but it doesn't really make sense if you haven't played any of the other ones.

out of curiosity, have you played the version of Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness that's in the new 4/5/6 collection? I just got that and looked into it a little bit and it appears they're trying to fix that game. a lot of cut content added back in but patch rollout is slow. haven't played it yet tho

I don't think most fans of thousand Year door or the older Mario and Luigi games are kids, I think they're autistic adults. I bought my cousins who are under 10 Super Mario RPG and they didn't even play it, zero interest.

but like, I have so much stuff that I purchase and don't play. I don't even know why I'm buying them at this point. Switch 2 is definitely not going to get any games bought for it outside of extremely rare exceptions.
