I ask nicely for PIs to acknowledge in publication text, and provide a citation (that nobody uses). Grant side is easier, the internal grant mgmt system has place for PIs to tag the use of the center during proposal prep.

I like metrics like this. A couple I use on campus like “lives touched” include # of PIs, # of unique departments (demonstrates breadth), and the # and % of PhD grads who were HPC users.

I think it has a place, but it’s more a measure of your ability to demand plan or the effectiveness of your allocation model/process.

I have a statistical model that shows the corresponding increase in several academic outputs that comes with investment in HPC centers. Always looking for more institutional data to improve the model.

And if things have to go into Friday, the workshops shouldn’t hit the same venn diagram of people. (Syspros, hust, interactive computing populations overlap quite a bit)
