I lost both of my furbabies today. Sadie (L) was mine since 2013 and had cong heart failure, Foxy (r) was left with me in 2022 when her mom was evicted. I actually knew Foxy before Sadie came to be my protector when I moved in next door 3 months before Sadie’s gotcha day. Pics from this morning.
So if teachers aren’t professionals anymore, does that mean we no longer have to do 24 hours of “professional” development every year?

It’s a good weekend to be/live in the Gr Cinti NKY area if you’re a sports fan. Big HS game at Paycor tonight-Elder vs St X. UC vs Louisville right next door at Heritage. Tomorrow UC-BYU at Nippert. FCC vs InterMiami Sunday at TQL and of course the Bengals have a game Sunday too.

Remember 5 years ago when people were complaining that teachers needed to go back to work since we were getting paid to do “nothing”? Where is that outrage with the republican house, who btw are getting paid WAY more than teachers do.

I have very chatty classes this year (no cell phones). I didn’t realize what I had done when I told a student to “sit his a** down” and the class was eerily quiet. Forgot that I had talked about how I only use curse words when I’m really angry. At least they were paying attention.

KY passed a law that bans cellphones during instructional time. Our school has consequences in place and for the most part, they are working. A positive side effect? Students are actually talking to each other. On the flip side, they talk all class long! And at lunch!

I teach sophomores, and there is something magical that happens between the end of the school year and the beginning of the new year. The amount of maturation that happens to most, if not all of them, takes my breath away. And I love how they come see me and give me hugs!

To follow up with the family member conversation: “illegals are drawing from social security, and grade school kids are still allowed to go through gender reassignment.” Also, “my daughter said she was glad I didn’t make her a boy at 12 because she was such a tomboy”. Not how that works but okay.

2/2 Basically gave me a look as if to say, “really? It’s nowhere the same”. She was empathetic for the Jewish plight but ended with, “but if they only came here legally”. I am so tired of that rhetoric. More was said, but she will never see it from any viewpoint other than MAGA.

I visited the Holocaust exhibit at the Cinti Museum Ctr. Third time being through, but first time since 47. It was scary that I could interchange his name with AH and the Jewish people with non-white people. And I didn’t even have to work at it. My family member, when I mentioned it…1/2

It finally happened! I found gas for $1.99 just like he said! Of course it was actually 2.99 but I had a dollar off gas at Kroger. And I only had that many fuel points because groceries are so freakin’ expensive it doesn’t take long to accumulate 1000 points.

It’s okay to spend billions of dollars to detain people in concentration camps and the repubs are okay with that. But if they had allocated that money to pay off student debt, they would have been begging that side of the aisle to vote against the bill.

The last day I had to officially set my 5:15am alarm for school was 5.28. So why have I been awake every day since then at 5:30-6? I even go to bed later! Of course when the end of July arrives and I reset the alarm, it will be a struggle to get out of bed 🙄 😂
