Starfleet Academy’s premiere episode really started working for me once Robert Picardo & the cadets appeared.

It’s a good pilot episode, but the opening scenes were tough to get through. I’m sure it’s all necessary to set up what’s coming up in the season, but it just wasn’t clicking for me.

I love, love, love Star Trek: Picard Season 3.

What a stellar season of TV.

If you watch The Chair Company, be ready to descend into madness. You won’t be able to stop watching this show.

The day players make this show great. They are hysterical and some are legit scene stealers.

Can’t wait for season two!

“Yuki’s Revenge,” the Fortnite x Kill Bill short, is a singular experience.

I can’t think of another property that’s done a similar thing.

The Fortnite elements didn’t take me out of the story per se. It’s hard to imagine David Carradine gelling with all that. Fortnite aside, it was a fun short!

I like the premiere of Pluribus. I’m really intrigued to see how season one plays out given its premise.

It has an X-Files vibe in a refreshing way—In terms of the show’s humor esp. toward the end…not so much the sci-fi angle. The actor Seehorn’s character talks to at the end absolutely kills it!

GDT’s Frankenstein is a gift—It’s like unwrapping a Christmas gift that you already know you’re gonna love.

Here’s a timeline cleanse—An example of good SFX makeup.

If Mike Marino designed this makeup, he’d sure as fuck have an inexplicable cleft scar.

The SFX makeup designers gave Frankenstein’s monster a lip scar but they do it in the right way & they don’t punch down at a particular group.

How nice!

Friendship needs to be celebrated because it lets beautifully dumb moments happen.

If you like improv, you’ll appreciate how this movie lets its performers just go for it.

I started watching The Paper. It’s charming as hell.

It isn’t trying to be The Office. It does its own thing really well.

If you’re looking for some inspiration, go watch this episode of Love Death + Robots:

“How Zeke Got Religion”

It’s about the crew of a WWII bomber fighting off an unholy monster.

The design work is stellar. The 2D animation is legit amazing—It’s some of the best animation I’ve seen this year.

Noticed today both seasons of #SpectacularSpiderMan are in the top ten TV series list on the Apple TV store.

Very happy to see that! One of the best takes on Spider-Man ever.

Go see Weapons while it’s still in theaters.

Avoid spoilers. Go in blind.

It’s easily one of the best movies I’ve seen all year.

More inks from my art stream!

Here’s one of the inked panels from yesterday’s art stream. :)

For a number of reasons, I ink my backgrounds separately in Adobe Animate and import them into Photoshop.

Process Post:

Here’s a screenshot from last night’s stream.

See the numbers next to the characters?

Those are brush sizes.

I try to find the thickest line to ink the outline of each character. I’ll do a brush size or two smaller to ink the rest of the character.

Go watch David Dastmalchian‘s talk show Grave Conversations on YouTube!

It’s fantastic!

Karate Kid: Legends is a great film. If you’re a Cobra Kai fan, you get to revisit that world a tiny bit.

Ben Wang is fantastic as Li Fong.

The fight scenes in this film are amazing. They’re choreographed with tremendous energy—Energy that you just don’t see in film and tv nowadays.

Go see it!

Picked this up while I was running errands today—Excited to watch Brave New World again! Physical media for life!

Finally saw Thunderbolts.

Loved it. It’s shot incredibly well. The script is fantastic because it puts a lot of heart into Yelena’s journey.

Florence Pugh in particular killed it. David Harbour and the rest of the cast were awesome. They had good chemistry.

Can’t wait to watch this film again!

Everybody's Live with John Mulaney is awesome. It is genuinely hilarious.

I started with the dinosaur episode with Conan O’Brien as one of the guests. It’s ridiculously funny.

Go watch it!

Last Week Tonight’s minor league baseball team segment is hilarious. Holy shit.

It’s a short deep-dive into laugh-out-loud team names like the Eugene Exploding Whales & New Hampshire Space Potatoes.

Now I want a Rocket City Trash Pandas tshirt!

RIP Val Kilmer

When I think of Val Kilmer, I always think of the gloriously weird iguana scene from Werner Herzog’s Bad Lieutenant.

That scene is unforgettably bonkers in the best possible way.

I love the drawings in Common Side Effects.

Every scene has a design or a shot of animation that is full of personality and charm.

It gives me that feeling of going to an animation festival and seeing really visually inspiring work.

I really, really enjoyed The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. I’ve rewatched it a few times now.

Excited to see what’s next for Sam Wilson in Captain America: Brave New World.
