It was discretionary, as normally biometrics and an interview is usually required which he did not do as he was in a prison in egypt. The government made a special exception.
Governments are not required to give consular assistance to dual citizens in their home country. An exception was made.

How about we compromise? Nobody goes to prison for tweets, but at the same time the government doesn’t intercede to give an Egyptian extremist citizenship and import him to the UK?

Don’t you think that it’s crazy that the government gave a British passport to an Egyptian man who wants to kill white people, then lobbied the Egyptian government to send him to Britain?

No, he isn’t. The coincidence of his mother being born in Britain while his grandmother was doing a PhD here does not make him British in any sense other than on paper.

How about we compromise. The guy who hates Britain and wants whites exterminated: we don’t lock him up, but we don’t give him a passport, lobby the Egyptian government to release him, then import him to Britain?
