The issue here is there's a lot ways to skin the cat. Some might work for you as a writer but not work well with the engine or scripting environment you're using. And vice versa. So trial and error might be needed in the short term before you really dive in

Rifts was such a glorious mess. not a single class, race, item or spell was balanced at all. The lore of all the dozens of books was fucking insane. Actually playing the game was a hilarious disaster, but could still be fun as hell. What a game.
