I am mostly just here to read posts from people whose opinions I respect, many of whom moved from another site because it got taken over by a basket of deplorables. (He/him/his)
They aren't though, except for Durbin. Losing control of 8 Senators in a morally complex game of chicken is not actively helping the fascists. We're 1 year away from the most important midterms of our lives. Now is not the time to fix the party. Now is the time for solidarity if ever there was one.

"They permit themselves not to doubt of it [the Bible], and they carry the ideas they form of the benevolence of the Almighty to the book which they have been taught to believe was written by his authority...It is quite another thing; it is a book of lies, wickedness, and blasphemy." - Thomas Paine

"As to the book called the bible, it is blasphemy to call it the Word of God. It is a book of lies and contradictions and a history of bad times and bad men." - Thomas Paine

“As I understand the Christian religion, it was, and is, a revelation. But how has it happened that millions of fables, tales, legends, have been blended with both Jewish and Christian revelation that have made them the most bloody religion that ever existed?” - John Adams

"It is the fable of Jesus Christ, as told in the New Testament, and the wild and visionary doctrine raised thereon, against which I contend. The story, taking it as it is told, is blasphemously obscene.” - Thomas Paine

I sincerely believe it's the former. Unfortunately, rebuilding the party from the top down is not something that can be done in a year, while we are at war with fascists. Unless we want our asses handed to us in '26 and maybe lose democracy thereafter, attacking current leadership is the wrong play.

In your condescending post, u implied that Democratic leadership not calling for the heads of the 8 Senators proves that Democratic leadership secretly supports the CR. It doesn't. Normal people don't attack colleagues for disagreements. All but 1 Dem leader voted no and came out against the CR.

So if you're wrong, given your total lack of proof and Schumer's statement, you'd rather the 8 be attacked as treasonous fascists, & Schumer imply they be executed? He's not doing that because he's not a sociopath, so your suggestion it supports the argument of a grand conspiracy doesn't hold water.

Or, maybe, normal leaders that aren't mob bosses and career criminals DON'T call for the heads of colleagues for political disagreements. Trump is a piece of shit, and Schumer is a decent human being. He made his disagreement for the CR very clear. Attacking colleagues is not how normal leaders act.

Yes, I'm talking to the Democrats. All of us. Everyone's messaging matters. Plus, I don't think the leadership is entirely to blame for this. Individuals cave for different reasons. I don't believe this was some master plan of Schumer's. It may be a failure of leadership to keep individuals in line.

Yeah, I keep wondering if the unfaithful eight did it out of self-interest or perhaps too much compassion for starving Americans. Millions on SNAP are probably very relieved they don't have to fear imminent starvation. All Trump's doing, but nonetheless.

Sorry, I don't believe that. The 2 retiring & the 6 not up for reelection in 2026 are just more likely to break ranks because they care less about being primaried. Those up for reelection in '26 will need party support so won't break ranks. Schumer came out against the CR. I'll take him at his word.
