true! but that's just incidental: at some point the aphelion and perihelion will be months apart from the solstices, bc they're only arbitrarily related. the earths axial tilt is what dictates solstices, not its distance from the sun

brief review of Anora, and Sean Baker's handling of sex work: boxd.it/7Pkv2n
a 3 star review of Anora: welp, certainly written and directed by a man.
like Florida Project, a numbingly paternalistic view of sex workers and poor people: a vaguely sympathetic, no-judgment portrayal of someone whose personhood, for the filmmaker, cannot amount to anything beyond a total abstraction. 
otherwise a very well-paced movie, fun, and pretty comedic. a real Safdie Brothers inspired middle section contains most of the life of the film -- before it pivots into making Igor the soft protagonist, a "heroic" stand-in for the director, who—get this—views the sex worker as a human being. (please clap).
a thankfully brief dialogue on rape between Igor and Anora threatens to expose Baker's questionable POV of his subjects, but then settles on simply calling Igor a faggot and moving on; cut, and scene.
somehow Baker both whitewashes and glamorizes sex work, keeping the glitzy male fantasy intact while stripping out every last fiber of politics of a fraught, dangerous, complicated, intensely politically charged profession. but he does it with plenty of stylish flair to keep the "omg, cinematography💋" level of movie goers satiated; yknow, the type of style that draws the word "cinema" from the lips of vapid, my-taste-is-my-personality types. 
Baker is an impressive filmmaker, but his fixation on making films about sex work, while having absolutely nothing to say about it, leaves one with questions.

Once we know the limits of the justice system's conception of crime, we can be clear about what the police are: They are a tool of power. The task of police is to suppress and warehouse the disorder resulting from acute inequality and exploitative power relations. In the US, their task takes on an explicitly racist function, predictably, since the system of racism is the cornerstone of American exploitation and inequality. They cannot be fixed. As long as that system of planned and controlled inequality borne of mass exploitation persists, any response to the disturbances it causes will necessarily be a form of clean up in the service of that order; a form of making the oppression tenable by containing the fires it ignites.

They took the assumption that the current population of around 200,000 chimpanzees would remain the same over the lifespan of the universe of one googol years (that's 1 followed by 100 zeros). They also assumed that each chimpanzee would type one key per second for every second of the day, with each monkey having a working lifespan of just over 30 years. Using these assumptions, the researchers calculated that among these randomly-typing monkeys, there is just a 5% chance that a word as simple as "bananas" would occur in the lifespan of one chimpanzee.
