Protect the Adirondacks submitted its Petition to Intervene as a party in the Adirondack Park Agency’s adjudicatory public hearing for the controversial howitzer firing range proposal in the Town of Lewis. We should know soon if our request has been granted

Today marks 61 years since the 1964 federal Wilderness Act was signed into law! The act was drafted by Howard Zahniser who was inspired by New York’s “Forever Wild” Forest Preserve established in 1894!

Protect the Adirondacks was recognized by the Adirondack Council at their 50th anniversary celebration as an Adirondack Legacy Honoree for our role, along w/ @AdirondackCouncil & other orgs, in shaping the Adirondack Park over the last 50 years. Congrats to the Adirondack Council on 50 yrs!

We need more motorless and quiet lakes for the public across the Adirondacks. The State should add the lakes and ponds within Whitney Park (adjacent to the William C. Whitney Wilderness area).

*The estate of John Hendrickson, who passed away last year, is in the process of selling Whitney Park.

Little Tupper Lake is one of the largest motor free lakes in the Adk Forest Preserve. Despite what Mr. Hendrickson* said (& others have repeated) about State mgmt of the W.C. Whitney Wilderness area incl. Little Tupper Lake these are beautiful forever wild lands & motorless waters free to the public

The Mt. Van Hoevenberg Constitutional Amendment passed the Senate! Thank you Senator Pete Harckham and co-sponsors Senator Dan Stec Senator Leroy Comrie & Senator Robert Jackson for getting this amendment thru the Senate! The amendment sponsored by Assemblyman D. Billy Jones passed the Assembly!
