IMHO, by 1990 hitchhiking was considered a “deviant” activity. In early 80s, age 17, I hitched 1,000 miles across Canadian border. In the US every ride was a man who either confessed former prostitution or wanted sex. Not my cup of tea but I had no trouble either. Canada was just helpful people.

Late post but that was excellent. I’m always amazed how personable and engaging these highly accomplished astrophysicists you interview sound (are).

We are very fortunate to have such a remarkable person leading this team.

To say that the quality of the roster should not be a criteria for evaluating the quality of the coach confuses me. It’s possible to mismanage great players and not uncommon for so-so managers to have a good result but the best managers convince a team to achieve results above expectations.

100% She did more with less than anyone else, under enormous pressure while putting aside team injury-drama and her own medical issues and always represented the team with articulate responses and kind words. Amazing on every level.

MLS is taking a risk and seems ready to trade ticket sales for…TV money? I am 100% certain my wife will never go to a game (in the Midwest) from mid - November through February and where she doesn’t go I follow. On the other-hand the USL Super League has a divided season and they’re seeing hundreds.

Good episode agree with the headline. “You need special players to score goals in big moments.” A cliche, but seems true for KC this weekend. Thanks for the show!

I think understand how you feel. It reflects poorly on MLS, which is an organization that seems predisposed to squeeze a few cents over a long-term strategy. One of many reasons I don’t follow it Returning to AI: if you won’t
pay someone a few bucks to write a game summary, then
don’t bother

She’s a great communicator: listening to her speak, my non-science brain was able to imagine molecules, dust, grains, pebbles, then rocks condensing from clouds of gas to form stars and planets. It’s pretty basic but never put it all together before. Such interesting people on your podcast!

Amazing image. Philosopher, “John Smith?”
End of the first civil war.
Do you think it described a cultural inversion as much as a political one? I guess there’s not much difference.

As predicted by others, US players who showed against lesser teams were stymied by Mexico.

US couldn’t complete enough passes and couldn’t carry the ball through defenders.

I don’t watch them carefully enough for strong opinions but watched the game so here it goes:
1. Malik (Sp?) is talented but inconsistent and looked frustrated later in game
2. The backs were easily confused
3 Freeze had a night

I enjoyed the interview. You were both funny.

We have a biological imperative to try to understand nature and technology has expanded our concept of nature to include the cosmos. If you can see something there is a non-zero chance it will affect you, for good or bad. The only way to know is to understand.
