In preparation for my spring undergraduate seminar on Reinhold Niebuhr, I am returning to this excellent short text. So much about Niebuhr is missing. But what Diggins is after in Niebuhr is a sensibility that might guide and inform our way of seeing against our tendency toward hubris.
