That is:

"We acknowledge your letter of... We note that Mr Arkell's attitude to damages will be governed by the nature of our reply and would therefore be grateful if you would inform us what his attitude to damages would be, were he to learn that the nature of our reply is as follows: fuck off."

I can recommend BBC's 'Life Story' Horizon special, for a deeper look at the story of Watson, Crick and Franklin.

Horizon - Life Story: A Horizon Special
Film telling the story of the race to discover the structure of DNA. Watson and Crick have the bright ideas and the will to win. But there's one little problem: Rosalind Franklin has the crucial data.

By way of support, here are some stats 👇

We produce proportional recounts for every division in the Commons to show how distorted FPTP really is, and how that affects legislation.

The Commons is now in recess until 11th November.

Of the 344 divisions held so far this session, 169 would have changed result if seats matched votes. That is, ~49% of the time, opposition MPs represented *more* people but the government won anyway.

Worth adding that this is a (Labour) Lords amendment. It has not yet been debated by the Lords. Their committee/report stage is due to start next week. After that, if accepted, it will return to the Commons.

The note reads:

"This new clause amends [the] Public Order Act 1986 to require police officers, when deciding whether the serious disruption to the life of the community threshold is met in England and Wales, to take account of the cumulative effect of processions and assemblies in the same area."
