A bar graph from King County Elections showing the number of challenged ballots by age, narrowed down to the "City of Seattle" races (Mayor, attorney, etc). City of Seattle has 2,086 challenged ballots, about half were unsigned, the other half the signature didn't match, and 14 ballots need a witness signature. For the 18-24 age, 316 didn't match, 238 unsigned. 25-34 age: 290 didn't match, 229 unsigned. 35-44 age: 207 didn't match, 198 unsigned. 45 - 54: 110 didn't match, 152 unsigned. 55 - 64 age: 66 didn't match, 135 unsigned. 65+ age: 52 didn't match, 195 unsigned.

Before you get excited for Japan's first female PM, check her politics. Women aren't more virtuous and special because they're women. Thinking so is misogynistic the same way it is to think women are all ditzy and childish. Women are not angels and men animals. Women are humans. Don't pedestal us.

Her hair is braided, up on her head like a crown. There are three pink roses peaking out at the top of her head. There's a golden halo behind her head and two hummingbirds, one on either side of the halo, with their long beaks pointing towards the roses. There are a pair of black and orange monarch butterfly wings behind her as though they're hers. The left side of the girl's face is painted black and white in a sugar skull Dia de Muertos style. Her left eye socket is painted blue and outlined in black. She has what looks like a rebozo draped around her shoulders. It is a black base with thin red vertical stripes at the edges, then vertical sections of patterns separated by other thin stripes of colors. The patterns are gray, red, green, orange, pink, and blue. I added two eyes cut from another paper between the hummingbirds and the wings. Along the outline created by the lights are small words cut from newspaper that read "LIVE TO SEE THEM DIE." The whole collage is on a page from a calendar that is a photo of a patch of rudbeckia (black-eyed susans). They have yellow petals and black centers. On top of the collage, in individual letters cut from many different pages (ransom note style) are the words "HOPE IS RESISTANCE". "Hope" is above the girl's head, so it looks like she's looking at it. "Is" is on her right shoulder under her chin. "Resistance" is at the bottom of the page. The artist's name, "JAKE PRENDEZ" is written in white gel pen on a black patch along the shawl's left edge.

In true Me fashion, I have taken a simple idea to eleven. My little mobile free zine library isn't going to be ready for Saturday, so I'll have a sandwich board, instead. BUT BEHOLD MY ADORABLE LITTLE DOORS! I'm using shrink plastic for the "stained glass" windows. An Adafruit feather may get added.
Two of my little doors. They're 2.5" by 4.5" rectangles of double thickness cardboard. The one on the left is coated in white acrylic gesso and the window in the center is taped off with black painters tape. Both doors have raised patterns around the windows made with hot glue. The one on the right is painted bright red with iridescent gold on the raised outlines. The window is a 1" by 2" rectangle of shrink plastic colored blue with a red flower medallion in three center. The finished door lit from behind to show how the little window will look with lights. The window is a blue background mottled with green and darker blue splotches. In the center is a circle outlined in black, surrounded with delicate, thin black swirls. Inside the circle is a red rose with a bit of yellow center, also delicately outlined in black and the remaining space in the circle is yellow with a bit of orange around the outline.

And when I say meticulous...I mean... Look at this table of contents. Also, Seidel is up front that he's an atheist and, as someone who was raised Catholic, I can see how much of it, especially the Bible section, could feel like an attack. But I urge you to remember he's not attacking religion...
The table of contents of the book. Part 1 is "The founders, Independence, and the colonies", part 2 is "United States v. The Bible", part 3 is "the ten commandments v. the Constitution", and part 4 is "American verbiage". Each part has several sections focusing on individual aspects of the broader part. Very book. Much content.

Another recommendation for #antifascistBookclub. Seidel meticulously debunks the claim that America is a "fundamentally Christian nation": from what the founders believed, to how biblical justice conflicts with liberal justice, to "in God we trust" and "one nation under God" to 1st amendment, etc.

Working on a little mobile zine library. I'm hoping to make it look like a cute little house, with a roof and lights. Gonna get some ortlieb hardware so I can attach it to my bike like a panier. And, of course, waterproofing will happen. Building materials: leftover cardboard and wood glue.
The shelf has four columns and two rows, with some zines sitting in the cubbies and some stacked on each other because only two horizontal shelves are installed so far. Rough cardboard edges all around and the front facade is only attached at the bottom so the shelves can be accessed. The display zines are "how to achieve ultimate success" on yellow paper, "how to report ICE" on blue paper, "help! My kid just joined Antifa!!"on white paper, "safety tips to protest fascism" on white paper, "how to make a one-page zine" on blue paper, "a quick guide to voter suppression" on blue paper, "ABC's mini guide to protesting" on white paper, and "what a load of CRAAP: how to know if that online source is legit" on white paper.
