We urged each other to hold the line not as some performative virtue signaling but as actual fucking panic! State after state was lining up to fund snap locally. The courts were with us. Federal workers are at-will employees. Any other industry and they could just quit. We would tell them so.

This capitulation takes responsibility off republicans for the entire shutdown. Democrats now own it. We got nothing we couldn't have gotten 6 weeks ago so why did we resist. The subsidies. The actual financial pain that is coming with $25k premiums and $28k deductibles for a couple.

This ACA mess was coming regardless. The shutdown slowly shifted to a Republican thing then we had a blowout election. If you're not going to strike when the iron is hot then when? We had the hot hand and more Republicans use the subsidies than Democrats.

We got nothing. The entire shutdown is now our fault. If we cave at day 41 for nothing then all 41 days were for nothing and we could've just passed the CR 6 weeks ago. You say they would never have caved. Well, we'll never know now. You know why? Because WE caved. This post is why we lose and lose.
