Was too sick to celebrate repro shabbat, but will next week. It feels like laws are being made that only consider one faith, which is not respectful of religious freedom. Read more here rac.org/issues/repro...

Lol Christian discrimination. I can't even. I don't get a single one of the holidays I celebrate off, but okay. I don't even feel safe half the time telling people I'm Jewish.

Am I the only one struggling with basic functioning right now?

It's so hard to be a mom of two little kids right now. I just keep thinking about their future and how I want more than anything for them to be a part of a loving, kind, empathic society and it feels impossible. I'm just dealing with crippling depression and it's hard to go on business as usual.

Trudeau: I think Canadians are a little perplexed as to why our closest friends and neighbors are choosing to target us.

I don’t think there are a lot of Americans who wake up in the morning saying, "Oh, damn Canada. Oh, we should really go after Canada."

I didn't realize how many conspiracy theorists were out there. Lack of critical thinking skills is so outrageously obvious.

I really want to write and publish a book, but I'm so intimidated by the process. I've been told I'm a great writer. Does anyone on #booksky have tips? Any first steps to take?

Being off Facebook and Instagram has done wonders for my mental health. Such a freeing decision.

I was sick for 2 weeks over break. I'm sick yet again. Same awful barking cough, achy, exhausted, congested, and nonstop bloody noses. I missed class last week and feel awful to cancel again so I'm debating wearing a mask to teach.

I was just going to start exploring grants too. This is going to affect thousands of jobs and hurt higher education. My dad always told me they can never take your education and ability to think away from you. Those words stuck and I'm glad they did. Even though it's hard, I'm glad I'm educated.
All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.

I've never admitted it, but I was straight up addicted to social media. I keep trying to access Instagram and it is not there. I am so glad that I'm working toward not being as present online. We waste so much of our lives comparing and always needing to be connected.

Devastating for scientists and their research, and everyone who benefits from that research.

I’m not sure if everyone outside academia is aware that a delay or “pause” in grant funding often means the researchers themselves are lost from the field, along with their expertise.
NIH appears to have canceled/postponed all of its study sections—the independent review panels that approve federal grants for health research.

Such grants fund the work/salaries of 300k people at more than 2,500 institutions

This is the only thing helping me during this time my existential crisis and depression. Ironically it's being at work and getting my classes organized. This is also the only social media platform I feel safe to express myself. It feels like hatred is winning and honestly life feels meaningless.

Education is so important, because we now have so many people not willing to critically think and educate themselves properly. It's so hard to function in a society like this.

I suppose I should start posting on here. Super excited to start the Spring semester! Had a great group of students. I think this is the first semester down here I've started school with snow still on the ground. #professor #educationmatters
