As someone who did this back then. Undertale's release and success made me face the fact that the only reason I wasn't working on my dream game was because of my own failings (A musician can make it, why cant you?).

Whenever I see these kind of "this person sucks" videos nowadays, I have to go check for myself because takedown videos are so exagerated and milked that I straight up don't trust them anymore.
I've seen so many false accusations and blown up situations that it gets tiring.

It's really sad how the general public kinda meshed together the dating sim and the visual novel, using the terms interchangeably. Especially when VNs got more and more strong on the writing over dialog choices. And dating sims are all about how you choose to talk and spend your time.

With many people doing stuff like flashcarts, console mods and portablilizations, I'm surprised no one tried to recreate the ps1/ps2 screen with new parts and sell it on etsy or something.

When they announced this I was expecting a YARS Rising sort of deal where the original is just a minigame/aesthetic backdrop. Glad to see it's more than that
