TLDR
- the rise of AI slop triggers questions towards the morality of such tech
- this project attempts to answer those questions with a focus on art through a Turing-styled test
- end goal: to bring policy change and public awareness
- to note: we are not against AI as a concept

However, we need your help in order to make this work. Through volunteering art, taking the survey, and even through reading this thread, we can use creativity and passion to fight against the machine.

Thank you for reading through this introduction thread.

And for note: we are not against the concept of AI, but rather how most of these current models are mostly unethically trained and used. It’s important to recognize the great potential of tech, but also to recognize the drawbacks.

The end goal of the project is to use such statistics in order to push for policy change in regulation towards artificial intelligence technologies. Even if this project fails to achieve its main goal, we hope that it can at least bring greater public awareness towards this issue.

Art Against the Machine is a high school research project founded upon these questions. In a Turing-test styled survey through comparison of a “real/fake” image and such, we hope to drive the question of --

-- will we humans still be able to determine what is “fake” (artificially generated) versus what is “real” (human made)? What is creativity if made by a robot? What does it mean to be human?
