A great summary of the success of vaccines. As I said before, we live in a privileged time where people don’t know how devastating these childhood illnesses are.

In 3 days, the number of measles cases in a highly unvaccinated area of Texas has doubled. There are now 48 cases, all of whom are unvaccinated, and 13 of whom have been hospitalized so far, for a hospitalization rate of 27%. This is huge figure in epidemiology. This outbreak will keep spreading.

Vaccines are life saving. The individual & public health benefit outweighs the risk more than nearly any other approved drug/med procedure.

Example: Tylenol is responsible for more deaths & hospitalizations than all vaccines combined.

Working in the emergency department, you see folks from all walks of life, and you learn to see the humanity in everyone. You also see the barriers people have to jump to get healthcare.

Healthcare should be a human right, and no one should go broke to get the care they deserve.

We live in a time where most people have never seen some of these diseases. Having treated unvaccinated kids in the ED, I can assure you they are potentially fatal, and horrible for the kids who get them. Childhood vaccines are safe and effective, full stop.

RFK Jr. is dangerous. There is a lot that’s broken about our healthcare system, but he hasn’t the first clue how to fix it. In fact, his influence will only make it worse.
