PROFS is urging legislators to remove language relating to faculty workload requirements from the state budget bill, saying the language interferes with the role of institutions and their faculty who, by law, are responsible for the educational mission of the universities.

PROFS has been monitoring the study committee since its first meeting and has concerns this proposal, along with several others. We intend to study the implications of the proposals carefully and engage with faculty members to learn their thoughts on these issues. Our statement:

NCSL just released its final report from their higher ed task force. The recommendations: degree offerings must lead to desirable life, career & earning outcomes; on-time degree completion; and reasonable tuition relative to cost and earning potential.
