Prof. Shaun

Unpretentious professor of books and words.
I'm still firmly in my "Pathfinder 2e is all I want to play" phase, and probably will be for awhile...but I really look forward to trying Draw Steel when I feel I need a change. I love team-focused TTRPGs (which is part of why I love PF2e as much as I do).

It's not ideal...but I don't consider myself a part of the underclass as a Senior Lecturer. I've mostly given up on the prospect of a TT gig, despite having a bevy of all the things expected in a TT gig...but I feel happy and reasonably secure with my 100% teaching-focused appointment.

Does that make all wombats women?

HARD agree. I've always loved Olyphant since watching Deadwood in the late 2000s, but he absolutely OWNS every scene of this series. I'm digging the show in general, but I pay extra special attention every time he's on.

It's so damn weird to me -- as a professor -- to hear this sort of rhetoric. Regardless of my politics I've never thought to stifle views I don't agree with, and while I'm sure some do, it's certainly not the norm.

It's days like these that I love being a Shakespeare scholar on BlueSky...

My May was boring by my standards, but as much as I hate being bored, I knew it was a good thing for my brain in the long run after nine incredibly busy months. Being bored sucks, but is also occasionally therapeutic...

I had this on VHS!

My first thought when reading this too.

Politics can be expensive. She's just found a novel way to foot the bill.

Shit.

Oh! You said SWORD, not s-word. My bad.

MAL in June. Blurry, but I had lots of MAGA folks behind me so had to be sneaky...

I just posted the same thing at the same time (sans the carts-into-classrooms bit).

I'm sure there were earlier things (I'm 45), but I distinctly remember the Challenger explosion. A bunch of years later it was almost nostalgic to read Richard Feynman's account of being on the committee that got to the bottom of what happened.

31 here (not including airports, obviously).

I'm glad this is all just a philosophical discussion. I don't want to claim it could never happen, but I can't see it. (And as a dual citizen, I sure as hell don't want to...)

That's what folks said about Ukraine when invaded by Russia...

I don't believe you. You got the whole damn thing all wrong.

A lot of Harlem Renaissance...especially Claude McKay's "White Houses," and Langston Hughes's "I, Too" which pairs nicely with Whitman's "I Hear America Singing" (19th c., of course, but illustrative...)

Outer Worlds felt like it should be a MUCH bigger game. Some of the dialogue and plots are great, but the actual scope is limited...which is awfully odd for the kind of game it is.

I never bothered with RDR2 because I found RDR too tedious on PS3...

Jfc. My city of the last 7.5 years. Shameful.

Not a great feeling being a non-tenured professor right now...

As someone in the education sector, I'm just waiting for the appointment of MTG as Secretary of Education to complete the worst possible cabinet possibilities in this, the darkest timeline...
