Majorly revising an article on Sound of Freedom, white supremacist media and porno-nationalism. I had the details before but not a coherent argument yet. Think it’s finally coming together. I’m kind of amazed there’s no good scholarly article on this film, at least that I know of.

A fascinating historical fiction novel about how director GW Pabst, who escapes Nazi Germany, returns in order to help his ailing mother. Disturbing how the compromises, rationalizations, magical thinking, and psychological pressures squeeze out his unceasing conformity.

Union follows the formation of the first Amazon union in Staten Island. No commercial distributors have picked up the film. But Solidarity Cinema Series will be screening the film on March 20, followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Brett Story and former Amazon employee and organizer Zack Boff.

Did a wondeful talk at books & books in Key West this past weekend. Hung out with @hoboacademic and had some good times. Met Judy Blume who co-owns the bookstore. Got around town on a wonderful Vespa loaned to us by wonderful hosts who put us up for free. Back to reality.

Don’t get me wrong: it’s a decent book. But it’s kind of dull for the subject matter. Written more for an audience of lawyers than a general readership.

Believe it or not, I haven’t read this yet. Interesting seeing her work in formation. Some good. Some not great. Painful moments of hipster racism. Other moments of brilliance. Some poems will be rewritten into even better lyrics. Interesting.
