That’s lovely: the Tommy’s dugout ‘Shrapnel Villa’ is a nice piece. As you’ll know, it’s based on an illustration in one of the early ‘Fragments’ volumes

Possibly, but it’s also a medium that has great depth in terms of texture and tone. Maybe also brass was in short supply, as most post-WW2 souvenirs are made of this shiny metal
