Because it's still not really true, but it is closer to true that, for many people, one cannot think without arranging words in an intentional order, in a way that one could colloquially refer to as 'writing'

Is "writing" here actually standing in for composition, maybe?

as always the best initial move is a consultation with your deities about what would be the most effective, given our goals. “Show me the route that will liberate people in my lifetime.”

i personally the literal translation as a methodology, because it forces me as a translator to see what i am doing at every point, ask why i am doing it this way, to confront where i am interpreting instead of moving mechanically, to make me subordinate myself to the text. i am not the author.

it's true that "literal translations" are difficult to read. this isn't a negative. it's an entirely neutral fact of how we engage with a text. it's simply a requirement for a different way of reading, and one that opens up new aesthetic and empathetic possibilities for the reader.

Idk I guess my tepid take is “if modernity renders your curriculum pointless and dull, change the curriculum” don’t handwring about how children won’t submit to boring tasks they could avoid.
We give kids easy versions of work because they lack the cognitive capacity to manage large amounts of info
