Fantastic film.

A stylish cocktail of ‘50s moral panics and a puppet that holds up surprisingly well even now.

Honestly, The Descent and Dog Soldiers are such classics, I think what I felt most was disappointment.

I’m still going to watch his stuff, and like you say, hope he regains that mojo.

I don’t wish to be too cruel, I think he’s just cranking out fairly cheap stuff that he makes with his wife/GF, and if that brings him joy, that’s ok; he doesn’t owe me anything.

This in particular felt like a missed opportunity to do something more fun than it ended up being tho.

Now that’s a British cinema & TV stalwart face. Guy worked so much he could form his own union!

Meet Frankenstein is their best by some distance.

Who Done It? is good fun as is Meet the Killer.

Meet Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde is not bad.

I’m so sorry for your loss.

She looks like such a sweetie.

I lost my cat recently too and it’s been really rough. I think, at least I had that time with them in the first place, and I’m sure you feel the same too.

In case Andrew says anything else that’s completely daft, here he is on the same podcast in late 2023, explaining the dynamic between the Labour Party leadership and the lobby journos.

Balaban really should have directed more.

This and My Boyfriend’s Back were both slyly subversive and stylish fun.
