Reading Laura Marks' The Skin of the Film and finding her idea of "haptic visuality" deeply relevant to Horror Cinema. In contrast to memory, the textural techniques of horror (the scream, the squelch, the surface of the skin) evoke an embodied experience of the uncanny and the abject. Hello, essay!

Just completed a rewatch of 'Mindhunter.' And I'm left with a lot of questions. Number 1: Has there ever been a character done more wrong by a writing room than Wendy (Anna Torv)? She bursts in as the smartest person in the room, a gay-feminist boss, and gets shunted into a kitchen-sink rom-drama?
