#ClimateChange 🌡️ is exceptional and caused by human greenhouse gas emissions 🏭

We are causing #globalwarming 10 times faster than past natural changes

We are taking Earth’s 🌎 climate beyond natural limits, with carbon dioxide & temperatures levels not seen for 3 million years

Make Science Great Again

🧠 When Truth Becomes a Threat, Science Becomes Resistance

Scientists silenced 🔇 Research closed 🔒
Data destroyed 🧨
Disinformation spreading.

We must defend truth, empower scientists & counter denial

#Earthday2025

Only the ignorant & stupid deny #climatechange is real

It should not be political

UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher understood the science and told UN that we have a duty to solve this crisis in 1989.

It is now 2025 and we have leaders that just don’t care

#EarthDay2025

Gaylord Nelson - US Senator & Governor 55 yrs ago founded Earth Day 🌎 creating a new wave of environmentalism

He says we have the power to #saveourplanet

Are we able? Yes

Are we willing?

That is the unanswered question 🙄

Especially with the growing #climatechange denial

Fossilised giant sequoia 🌲trees at Sigri on the west of Lesbos.

20 million years ago a sequoia forest 🌲 was in Greece. Sequoia are now found in wet temperate California 🌧️

This tree stood over 100 m tall

The Seven Stages of climate denial:

1. It's not real
2. It's not us
3. It's not that bad
4. We have time
5. It's too expensive to fix
6. Here's a fake solution
7. It's too late: you should have warned us earlier

Trolls use all of these stages to deny reality of #climatechange on Ex-Twitter 🤣

12 months of negotiations, 2 weeks of intense negotiations at COP29 & overrun of 33 hours & all we get is $300 billion per year pledge by 2035 to help developing countries transition away from fossil fuels. No where near the $1.3 trillion requested or $3 trillion per year that is actually needed
November 24, 2024 at 9:39 AM
COP29 new text headline figure is $300bn by 2035 to help poor countries transition away from fossil fuels. Developed countries should “take the funding lead” - allows countries such as China/
India to contribute

Call for at least $1.3 trillion by 2035 but in the weakest of UN diplomatic language
November 23, 2024 at 10:34 PM
Last official day of COP29 - and the draft text is weak and has many omissions.

1. Developing countries want $1.3 trillion in climate finance - at the moment there is only $250 billion by 2035.
2. No mentioned of the transition away from fossil fuels - EU fighting hard to get this restated. 🙄
November 22, 2024 at 1:48 PM
COP29 is supposed to be the finance COP

But draft text is very vague and not real financial commitments.

African nations are insisting that China and India are no longer developing nations and should contribute money to the green transition and loss and damage. #climatechange

ClimateChange: how bad could the future be if we do nothing?

#ClimateCrisis is real and happening now. There is still everything to fight for - reducing emissions now means we could stay below 2˚C. Here is my handy table of global warming impacts and article ⬇️

How can past COP meetings help shape future environmental discourse?

Read a short history of the successes and failures of previous COP summits in my article: bit.ly/3Z7a2UX

Explains why the net zero has become deeply ingrained in politics and commerce. And why COPs cannot solve everything
