Not a good #caturday for us today. Sadly our little Tigger was overwhelmed by his kidney problems and was put to sleep this morning. Bless his little silver paws. Good night, sweet prince, and flights of cat angels sing thee to thy rest..

Delighted and relieved to see Restore Trust candidates were soundly beaten. None received more than 20,000 votes, while all National Trust preferred candidates received over 40,000 votes. RT spent nearly £100k on attack ads this year. Stay vigilant next year […]

For fans of European TV, season 2 of La Legge di Lidia Poët has just landed. The first woman to qualify as a lawyer in Italy (but then disbarred because she was female). https://www.netflix.com/gb/title/81414644

My poor little guy has kidney disease. Been here so many times with different cats, and here we go again with meds and subcutaneous fluids. Sigh.

Imagine bringing up a rescued baby hare, letting it run free, and then the hare returns to you every day to sleep in your office. Adorable

I was lightly involved in this study. Throughout I was struck by how much we constrain the lives of people with learning disabilities and reduce their choices, sometimes to a binary: 'do you want to do this, or this?' when really neither would be what the person would like to do. Great paper […]

Just watched a Birmingham-based paralympic athlete in the long jump in Paris. One of her supporters had a t-shirt saying 'ALLEZ BAB'. Glorious linguistic mash-up

It's that time of year again when National Trust members need to vote for council membership to avoid the attack from the far right 'Restore Trust' (yeah right). RT want to take us back to an uncritical, non-diverse, forelock-tugging verison of history. There's a quick vote to support the […]

Just poured myself a rather large Raspberry and Rhubarb Glaswegin. I might have slightly overdone it. But I need something to take the sting out of German election exit polls showing the fascists in the lead in Thüringen. s […]

Looking up signs of dementia in cats (because, yeah, mine are 12 and one of them is showing some behavioural changes). But I have to say this made me laugh:
"You may notice that your cat stops responding to commands that they’ve already learned."
Respond to commands? Cats? 🤣

Apparently there are 26 portraits of Wellington's war horse, Copenhagen, in his home at Stratfield Saye, but only one of his wife. Not a happy marriage, then.
But meanwhile here's a Very Good Boy, who survived Waterloo, lived for 28 years and is buried in […]
