Landevennec and the Crozon peninsula are so lovely at this time of year, bathed in mild Atlantic, damp air. The camellias are starting to flower. There is a wonderful mermaid in the parish church near the abbey. 🧜‍♀️

Red kites taking domestic cats is another misbelief. We have had an expansion in numbers & range in N Leics & all sorts of myths are emerging. The heavy road traffic is rarely invoked for cat mortality - tho kites do use roadkill.

PS it is brilliant to see a big kite over the garden…

In theory, the BA Small Grants scheme is open to independent scholars. Depending on topic, British Council and Arts Council might be worth a look.

Great news. A new edition and full translation will be very welcome. Searchable online like Domesday Book is so important (I love that site opendomesday.org)

Ah, ‘fermeture exceptionnelle’ of the Nantes municipal archives, became the slogan of my PhD research. Hand-written, cellotaped to the door on an ad hoc basis during the 2 months I worked there! 1985. The archive was and still is on the rue d’enfer.

Happy days!
