Opinions are my own
There’s multiple studies I’ve mentioned in other replies! Gender tends to be covariate in those studies.

Great chatting, gotta prep for class!

And ain’t that just the main issue???

I think best is relative; shared values and goals with interdisciplinary knowledge is what I think of as being great.

For example, a large portion of tech for folks with disabilities are abandoned because they’re made by siloed engineers without input for folks with lived experience.

Fully agree, empathy is nuanced and multifaceted and culturally dependent. But the point is that it’s likely teachable rather than a static intrinsic quality.

There’s actually a (super limited) study on neutypes specifically! it’s worth a read!

Actually I want to rephrase: “Engineers tend to work with others who speak the same jargon and have the same disciplinary culture.”

My original phrasing of “work better” is maybe lacking nuance

Oh I can absolutely imagine! Engineers tend to work better within their own discipline, but that’s a double edged sword. Empathy is by no means a one-shot predictor of managerial skill

They just modified it by shortening it from 47 to 12 questions. Gave the modified version to STEM and non-STEM students, so they are comparing to their own data.

We cited this study in a paper currently in review on an empathy intervention

To answer the first question, yup! At least according to The New England Journal of Medicine, Nature, Taylor & Francis, etc.

To the second question, I appreciate the rage-baiting. Google scholar is free.

Fully agree that categories are critical. Which is why a differentiation between various sexes and spectra of gender is imperative.

Haven’t fully read the paper and not looking to debate (not my area of expertise), but this article seems to be solid.

Neurobiology of gender identity and sexual orientation
Sexual identity and sexual orientation are independent components of a person’s sexual identity. These dimensions are most often in harmony with each other and with an individual’s genital sex, althou...
