Is this the right messaging for students to be able to work from morning until midnight? It may be popular with students but it may not be good modelling and of course will presumably increase costs too.

Why don’t we align VC salaries with senior civil service permanent secretary salaries? Parity in public sector pay makes good sense and would most likely strengthen an HE underfunding argument.

And although such salaries themselves are a very small percentage of financial turnover they are routinely used to undermine the credibility of an under funding narrative - maybe because they are seen to be giving the finger to government and the public?
