It will be hard to get rid of an ideology that is so deeply rooted into a culture but even acknowledging the problem is a step in the right direction. This should not discourage you rather motivate you to be a voice for those that cannot speak. #NiUnaMas

Violence against women has many negative influences like machismo. Regardless of the research that supports the idea that more women representatives are needed to support feminist policies, it is hard to integrate women into politics due to the violence they face.

The fight to eliminate violence against women especially in Latin America is not an easy battle.

Violence against women is a big issue, and it will continue to increase if the right measures to combat it are not taken. But how can we create a change?

This demonstrates the importance that the ideology of a political party has on its probability of running female candidates and measures political parties could take to increase aspiring female candidates.

Equality guarantees measures: involve mandatory steps taken to increase gender equality such as the implementation of gender quotas, typically seen in left wing parties and leads to an increase in female candidates.

This is demonstrated through the use of equality promotion or equality guarantee measures.

Left wing parties tend to emphasize structural reform and social equality, whereas right wing parties often favor individual merit and agency of political candidates without changing the institutional structures that could hinder women’s representation.
