A great mentor who encourages you and helps you find the path in which you will blossom is an amazing gift. Glad to celebrate my mentor and that Phil’s story and the story of why science matters is out in the world - a great evening!

Still pinching myself that I received this letter from Rahul Gandhi, great grandson of the first prime minister of 🇮🇳, and grandson/son of two more PMs. He is working towards a more inclusive future for India and working against conservative trends that we have seen rise up of late.

Both red states and blue states are affected because universities and academic medical centers exist everywhere. We can't normalize this. This hurts all of us.

The NIH is a coalition of multiple institutes in specific areas of study. The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities has been hit the hardest. And this is only looking at grants, not at the people who work in those Institutes in DC.

There is particularly strong focus on the LGBTQ+ community and on studies that combat misinformation, decimating grant profiles in these areas. “You cannot eliminate a segment of the population by executive order, but you can harm them greatly.” -Tilghman

Terminated grant tally - targeting grants deemed "no longer in the interests of the agency" and widening knowledge and healthcare gaps for multiple minoritized communities.

As always, fiction helps me to understand the world. I may be reading about time travel in The Ministry of Time, but I am also reading about something that feels much closer to home.

"The book is a timely contribution to ongoing debates surrounding genetics and identity. In an era where genetic discourse is increasingly shaping public perceptions of identity, Dasgupta emphasises a crucial reminder that biology is never neutral." bookshop.org/p/books/wher... 🧪 #BookSky

I'm glad that this article is being republished by local presses to reach readers who might not otherwise engage with this type of content. But I'm concerned by this feedback from one of those readers who was trying to share the piece more widely.

Sex exists on a spectrum just like gender does, and sex and gender do not have a 1:1 relationship with each other. Any attempt to impose a binary social construct ignores that reality. #WhereBiologyEndsandBiasBegins
